Week 1, Wednesday
331 Days until Ironman Arizona.
The pool where I train is still closed, so no swim workout today. Started the “Anatomical Adaptation” phase of weight training tonight, though[1]. I started with virtually no weight per the book’s instructions, but I have a feeling my triceps and my quads are going to be complaining for a few days.
Unrelated: forgot my swim shoes/flip-flops when I went to the gym, leaving me barefoot for my after-workout shower. Nasty. Spraying a gallon of desenex on my feet tonight.
- Squats: 25 x 2 x 30 lbs.
- Leg Press: 25 x 60 lbs., 25 x 70 lbs.
- Knee Extension: 25 x 2 x 10 lbs.
- Hamstring Curl: 25 x 2 x 10 lbs.
- Calf Raise: 25 x 2 (Is it just me, or is it hard to keep your balance for these? I did them without weights and kept having to step off the platform as I lost my balance.)
- Seated Row: 25 x 2 x 30 lbs.
- Lat Pulldown: 25 x 2 x 40 lbs.
- Dip (assisted): 25 x 2 x 230 lbs.
- Tricep Extension: 25 x 2 x 20 lbs.
- Straight-arm Pulldown: 25 x 20 x 20 lbs.
[1] As outlined in Going Long: Training For Ironman-Distance Triathlons. I highly recommend this book if you’re training for an Ironman.
